Tony Romo Thinks Travis Kelce Will Bounce Back

By his own admission, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce did not have the best season in 2024 as his stats were down significantly in every major category. But former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo seems to think that he will be able to bounce back this year.

After briefly considering retirement, Kelce decided to return for another season with the Chiefs this year as he made it clear that he did not play up to his own expectations last year.

"I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year," Kelce said via Pro Football Talk. "I don't think it was my best outing, you know? I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I've been in years past. You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth about how I ended the year and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me."

With Kelce's stats falling off significantly last season, many people placed the blame on his relationship with pop sensation Taylor Swift and the time he spent with her during the offseason.

This season, though, Romo does not think that will be a problem because Kelce has had more time to balance his career and his relationship.

"That was his first whole season being under that microscope," Romo said about Kelce and Swift in an interview with Us Weekly. "It was the first full season and offseason where the public and the world knew. Like anybody, we all learn through experience and we get wiser."

Romo has experience with celebrity relationships as he dated Jessica Simpson from 2007 to 2009 during his time with the Cowboys. And he seems to think that Kelce is going to do just fine, given his track record.

"Not that [Kelce] has to do anything," Romo explained. "The guy is a [future] Hall of Famer who has played at the highest level. He's won Super Bowls. He's made some of the biggest plays in the most clutch situations ever. I think he'll figure things out real quick, even if there was something to figure out. I think everyone should just put their trust in him."
