Eagles troll critics of Tush Push after ban attempt fails

On Wednesday, fans of the Philadelphia Eagles rejoiced as an attempt to ban the highly controversial “Tush Push” play was unsuccessful. And shortly afterwards, the Eagles social media team sent a clear message to critics of the play that the organization has come to perfect over the years.

24 votes were needed to pass a ban on the “Tush Push” at Wednesday’s league-wide meeting to determine the legality of the play. Ultimately, critics of the play were two votes shy of a ban going into effect, as 22 votes came in to ban the play while ten teams around the NFL, including the Eagles of course, opted not to vote to ban the play.

NFL needed 24 votes today to ban the Tush Push, but got only 22. Here are the 10 teams that voted against the Tush Push ban, per sources:

After the votes came in, the Eagles social media team wasted no time in celebrating this decision by the league, posting a picture posing over the grave of those who were hoping to see a ban go into place.

“And push on we will,” wrote the Eagles in the caption of the post on X.

Ultimately, there will almost certainly be more votes on this controversial play in years to come. Especially if more evidence does come out that the play is potentially dangerous given the helmet-to-helmet impact on offensive and defensive lineman on the play.

Still, it is certainly a joyous moment for Eagles fans ahead of the 2025 season as they look to defend their claim as Super Bowl champions.
