The Tennessee Titans made a potentially franchise-altering selection when they chose Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. After years of mediocrity and worse at the position, the organization finally has a cornerstone player under center.
Although the team has insisted that it is an open competition between Ward and incumbent Will Levis, it is all but a guarantee that Ward will be the starter on opening day. No franchise would use such premier draft capital on a player that they did not intend on investing heavily into during their rookie year.

On Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans' Jim Wyatt made an important announcement regarding Ward. He reported that Ward finally signed his rookie contract, which is a four-year deal worth $48.75 million.
While this is far from the biggest rookie deal ever signed, it is still a significant amount of money to invest in a young player. If he can perform well in the first two or three seasons, he will almost certainly sign a record-breaking deal after his rookie contract is up.
Ward will begin his NFL career against the Denver Broncos in Week 1, which may be tough sledding for the young player. However, he should have every opportunity to learn from his mistakes and develop into a franchise centerpiece for the Titans.
