There have been few turnarounds in NFL history as shocking as what the Washington Commanders were able to do in 2024.
A nine-win difference from the prior year, and a trip to the conference title game for the first time in 30 years highlighted the work Washington did to become a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Now comes the hard part, though.
Sustaining that success.
Washington's current win total going into the 2025 season is just 9.5 according to NFL Network. While that number seems fair to some around the league with the Commanders preparing for a tougher schedule, one analyst believes the team should blow through that mark.
NFL analyst Gilberto Manzano believes the Commanders should hit over 10 wins this season despite their tough schedule.
"This could be a tough bet to hit because of the Commanders’ difficult schedule, but there’s no denying this team got better after the surprising trip to the NFC championship game. Jayden Daniels will get to throw to Deebo Samuel and his blindside will be protected by Laremy Tunsil. The defense could use another pass rusher, but the secondary should be better this season, especially with Marshon Lattimore getting a full offseason in Washington," says Manzano.
There are some legitimate concerns about Washington going into 2025. They are a lot older than people seem to expect at key positions. They also don't have the kind of defensive line many see in contenders.
With a top quarterback, though, anything is possible. And the Commanders should be able to shrug off those concerns about their schedule to get back into the playoff race next season.
