The Green Bay Packers are looking to take the next step in 2025 and become top-tier Super Bowl contenders. Matt LaFleur and company have the talent to work with to make that happen, but the team will need to put everything together at the same time.
Led by Jordan Love, the Packers have been a borderline contender the last two years. They have been good enough to make some noise, but not good enough to actually contend for a title.
Green Bay also has a difficult task ahead of them due to the division they play in. Facing the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears will not be easy.
All of that being said, LaFleur spoke out and revealed who the Packers’ biggest and most difficult opponent will be this season. His choice will not be too surprising.

During his appearance on the “Up & Adams Show,” LaFleur stated that the Lions will be the biggest contender his team plays against.
“Detroit… right now, they’re the class of the NFC,” he said.

Last season, Green Bay was swept by Detroit. They lost by a combined 13 points, showing just how close they are to competing against the Lions.
If the Packers can take the leap they’re expected to take in 2025, they should be able to be in the elite tier of NFC teams. Outside of Detroit, teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Vikings, and Bears are all going to be tough teams for Green Bay to beat.
LaFleur and Green Bay will kick off the 2025 NFL season at home with a matchup against the Lions. Right off the bat, the team will have a chance to prove that they’re a legitimate threat in the NFC.
