Chelsea ‘have no plans’ to sign Rodrygo; Enzo Fernández ‘not for sale’ — reports

As the actual football starts to wind down for the season, transfer market speculation starts to ramp up. And if the early indications are anything to go by, we’re in for a long, exhausting, and perhaps even a bit dramatic summer.

Among the more spectacular bits of rumor-mongering this week has been the idea that Chelsea would go after Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who may be a potential victim of the impending coaching change at the team (Xabi Alonso replacing Brazil-bound Carlo Ancelotti). Whether that’s really an actual concern for the 24-year-old winger is up for debate, but the market is expecting a €100m offer to come in from a Premier League team before long — maybe from Arsenal or Manchester City ... or maybe from Chelsea?

That sounds a bit far-fetched from where I’m sitting, and also from where Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solkehol is sitting, who’s reporting that while Chelsea see Rodrygo as “an exceptional player”, “the total cost of any potential deal, including wages, is prohibitive and a move would not fit in with Chelsea’s strategy in recent transfer windows”.

Good. (Probably.)

And speaking of Real Madrid, they have once again been linked with Enzo Fernández, so once again we have reports of Chelsea not looking to sell our record signing (and reports that he is also not looking to leave). As Solkehol puts it, Chelsea see him as “part of the core” of the team, which he’s indeed been since arriving from Benfica two and a half years ago.

Chelsea are on course to bank a £200m windfall but they have no plans to sign superstar players such as Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. The 24-year-old Brazilian has been linked with a €100m move to Chelsea but he is not currently a target. Rodrygo is viewed as an exceptional player…
