Chelsea’s owners are continuing to make controversial moves behind the scenes despite facing criticism about their running of the club.
BlueCo, which is spearheaded by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, has spent around £1.5billion on new signings over the past three years.
The Premier League side’s latest accounts for 2023-24 revealed their overall revenue fell from £513million to £469million last season.
Chelsea sold their women’s team to BlueCo last summer for around £200million, helping them turn their previous £90million loss for 2022-23 into a £128million profit for 2023-24.
In a new development, The Times reported on 14 May Alexis Ohanian, the husband of tennis star Serena Williams, has bought an eight per cent stake in Chelsea Women for £20million.
The Blues are now the most expensive women’s team in the world, with a value of £225million that is set to rise to £245million.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City could be set to benefit from the sale rather than Chelsea.
Club chiefs are projecting Chelsea Women could be worth between £500million and £1billion over the next decade as the Women’s Super League continues to grow.
They have now claimed six WSL titles in a row following another strong campaign.

Chelsea investor could land significant profit
Borson insisted Ohanian will be a “big winner” if Chelsea Women’s value reaches the club’s projections.
He told Football Insider: “In a hundred years’ time, maybe the women’s game will be enormous.
“But ironically, the situation with Chelsea men’s is that now they’ve given up any upside on Chelsea Women.
“So, if let’s say I’m completely wrong and the women’s game grows exponentially from here and Chelsea Women is worth £1billion in five years’ time, all of that upside accrues outside of the Chelsea men’s team and the club.
“They are gone now. It’s outside the group. So, if that is the case and the women’s game grows exponentially, the big winners in all of this are all the other teams.
“City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, all the big teams that have got women’s teams.
“If we now see a 5x growth in the women’s game in the WSL, the big winners here are all the other teams, not Chelsea. Chelsea Women will be a big winner.
“This new investor will be a big winner, but Chelsea men’s club gets nothing now.”

Chelsea and Arsenal frontrunners in Leroy Sane race
In terms of on-field matters, Football Insider revealed on 13 May Chelsea and Arsenal are the frontrunners in the race for Leroy Sane.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at Bayern Munich next month and had looked set to pen an extension, but he has switched agents and could now quit the Bundesliga champions in the coming weeks.
