Newcastle United are due to announce the arrival of Spanish winger Antonio Cordero in what could be a busy June on Tyneside.
The 18-year-old is believed to have agreed a contract until 2030 and will officially become a Newcastle player next month. The Magpies beat the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid to Cordero's signature and will be welcomed by United staff at Benton this summer before a decision on a loan deal is made, with Ajax mooted as possible suitors of a temporary deal.
But Cordero's official confirmation is believed to be only the start of a flurry of activity at St James' Park.
Early decisions to be made at United
Early summer decisions on Callum Wilson's next step will be made before Newcastle get to grips with what is essentially a two-tiered window. Business can be done between June 1 and June 10 before a clutch of clubs battling against PSR issues in the run-up to the Premier League's health check deadline are set to influence the window.
This proved to be the case for Newcastle last summer when Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh were sold to Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion, respectively, for a sum of around £65 million. But Newcastle could well benefit from the situation this time around with AFC Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Chelsea all needing to wheel and deal to avoid potential points deductions.
Head coach Eddie Howe had commented earlier this month: "The PSR deadline plays a huge role for clubs - both those clubs with PSR issues and those without - because those without may potentially look to try to sign players," said Howe. "They [the owners] will look to take advantage of other clubs, as clubs did to us last year, quite rightly."
Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell is leading the recruitment push.
Newcastle to be offered £30m man from Chelsea
The Magpies are believed to be on a list of clubs that will be offered Blues striker Armando Broja.
Broja has spent the season on loan at Everton, but they are not looking to take up the option to buy the Slough-born player. Broja was watched by Newcastle over a year ago, but with Chelsea set to offload up to 10 players this summer to comply with PSR, he is set to be available.
Whether the £30m price tag on Broja, who desperately needs a run of games, remains in place is up for debate. The 23-year-old has been hit by injury and only started four times for Everton in the Premier League.
Talks with Martin Dubravka in the pipeline
Having handed Martin Dubravka a new deal in January and then benching him, Newcastle will make decisions on their goalkeeping department in the next few weeks.
The 36-year-old is believed to have been the model professional after last making an appearance in the FA Cup against Brighton in a painful 2-1 defeat. Since then Dubravka, who turned down a lucrative move to Al-Shabab in January to stay on Tyneside, has watched on as Nick Pope re-established himself between the posts.
Newcastle have since been linked with James Trafford and Aaron Ramsdale with the arrival of either meaning Dubravka would face life as a No 3. With Dubravka keen to play out the last few years of his career, Newcastle won't stand in the way of him leaving if they get a reasonable cash offer.
