'Still there' - Arteta sets out Arsenal motivation for final day clash at Saints

2

BOSS Mikel Arteta has set out winning the Premier League's Golden Glove award as one of Arsenal motivation's for their final day clash with Saints.

Arsenal will absolutely make sure of second spot in the Premier League by avoiding defeat to bottom-placed Saints, but it is likely already theirs.

Man City could take advantage of an Arsenal defeat and finish runners-up to Liverpool by winning at Fulham, but would need an eight-goal swing to do so.

But Spanish goalkeeper David Raya is level with Nottingham Forest's Mats Sels on 13 clean sheets ahead of the last match of the campaign.

Arteta, who had quipped, "it's time to go to the beach," following his side's win over Newcastle United last time out, remains focused.

Speaking ahead of the match, he said: "Because you want to have as many points as possible. You are always here representing this club to win and to play in the manner that we want to do.

"We want to achieve the best defensive record, the golden glove that we are still there to play and finish the season again on a high with a good test and always respecting the competition."

Arsenal's key defensive pair Jurrien Timber and William Saliba will miss the Gunners’ final game of the season after injuries they sustained last week.

Arteta said: “William is going to be out for a few weeks unfortunately. He pulled his hamstring against Newcastle. Jurrien had surgery yesterday on his ankle, so he’ll be out for a few weeks as well.”
