Arsenal Can Sign“Special”Forward For£67.5M As Sky Journalist Confirms Talks Over Transfer“Have Begun”

Arsenal transfer target Rodrygo has an asking price of “around €80m (£67.5m)”, according to reports in Spain.

Radio station Cadena Ser claim that the Gunners are interested in the Brazilian international, along with several other Premier League clubs.

It was originally suggested that Rodrygo’s team, Real Madrid, would demand upwards of €100m (£84m) for the player.

However, it appears that the La Liga giants are prepared to let the 24-year-old go for a slightly lower fee.

Arsenal “have begun” talks to sign the forward

The Gunners’ interest in snapping up Rodrygo was confirmed by Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg. Writing on his X account on Wednesday afternoon, the journalist said that “talks have begun behind the scenes” about a potential transfer.

Plettenberg emphasised that the deal is likely to be “difficult” to complete but Mikel Arteta’s side do hold a “serious” interest in the Brazilian, who has been described as “special” by his manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Other Premier League teams want Rodrygo

Unlike Plettenberg, who only mentioned Arsenal, Cadena Ser were keen to emphasise that there is more than one English club hoping to buy the winger.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Rodrygo over the past few days, while Manchester City and Liverpool are said to have kept tabs on him for the last few years.

At the moment, it does look like the Gunners are the team leading the race. If he does end up making the move to the Emirates, it would raise questions about the futures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.

The former has just a year left on his contract, while there are now suggestions that the latter could be let go if the club receive a fee in excess of £50m.
