Former Michigan linebacker Michael Barrett is getting another opportunity on an NFL roster.
The 25-year-old signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday and will look to make the team out of training camp. Barrett, the winningest player in Michigan history, was a 2024 seventh-round pick of the Carolina Panthers but was traded to the Seattle Seahawks last August.
He was waived before the season and signed with their practice squad, but his stint was short-lived. Barrett also spent time on the practice squads of Cleveland and Green Bay during his rookie season and was elevated to the Packers’ active roster for their regular-season finale. He did not play in the game and has yet to make his NFL debut.
With the Wolverines, Barrett totaled 208 tackles, including 8 ½ sacks, and two interceptions over six seasons. He appeared in 64 career games, the third-most in program history, which included 35 starts. The 6-foot, 239-pounder was a captain during the 2023 national championship season and a two-time all-Big Ten selection.
