The Cleveland Browns made seven selections in the NFL Draft, then signed a number of undrafted rookies afterward. They have gone through their first minicamp and the draft picks have spoken with the media. Plenty from the media have also weighed in on what they think, especially as it relates to the quarterbacks. How does that compare with how the Browns feel?
The Browns made two of the most discussed moves in the draft. They traded down from the second pick in the draft to the fifth in a swap with the Jacksonville Jaguars. They selected defensive tackle Mason Graham, netted the 36th pick which became running back Quinshon Judkins and added an extra first round pick in next year's draft. In the process, they gave up the ability to select the reigning Heisman Trophy winner from Colorado, Travis Hunter as well as the best defensive player in the draft, Abdul Carter.
With their final selection, they traded up in the fifth-round to select Hunter's teammate, quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Especially for those who didn't watch the OBR's coverage of the draft, Sanders was all certain broadcasts could talk about. It was increasingly likely that he could fall out of the first round, but when he proceeded to free fall, that was the most unexpected element of the weekend. The Browns took Sanders after they had already selected another quarterback in Dillon Gabriel, an unexpected move in itself.
With rookie camp complete, the rookies have now been mixed in with the veterans as the team goes through OTAs leading up to the team's minicamp in the middle of June.
Here's what the OBR has learned about some of the choices the Browns made on draft weekend as well as some early impressions of several rookies.
