Arsenal told to sign £67 million million star
Arsenal face another summer of big decisions. Last season showed clear signs of progress, but the lack of attacking depth at times was again noticeable. The club have invested heavily under Mikel Arteta, but still need reinforcements who can make a difference in tight games.
While several big clubs are already positioning themselves in the market, the Gunners continue to explore options that can provide imbalance, intelligence on the ball and the ability to solve games on their own. In this context, the name of Eberechi Eze resurfaces strongly, a talent who has shown he is ready for a higher step.
Crystal Palace did not receive many bids for Eze last summer, something that surprised the club considering his value and potential. According to Caught Offside, the England playmaker has a clause that will be triggered again this summer: £60 million plus an additional £7 million.
Arsenal told to sign £67 million million star
After a stellar season that culminated in a historic FA Cup final win over Manchester City, Eze has put himself on the radar of several English football giants. His contract is entering its final year, and with 26 goals generated this campaign, his exit seems likely. Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Tottenham are all tracking him, but Arsenal could join him if he decides to act with conviction.
Eze would be a great bet for Arsenal. He has technique, pace, vision and that bit of cheek that is lacking in certain parts of the team’s play. Charles Watts, a journalist linked to the club, opined in Caught Offside that the player would fit in perfectly with Arteta’s style, highlighting not only his performance in the final, but his ability to interpret the game on and off the ball.
For a team like the Gunners, who often face tight opposition, someone like Eze could break lines and offer real alternatives in the final third. With Martin Ødegaard established as a creator, Eze could occupy the left flank or even the inside-left role, where more goals and dribbling are needed.
Opinion:
However, there are points that deserve attention. The price tag remains high, and while Eze has shone, he has yet to perform consistently in European or Champions League competition. Spending close to £67 million on a player with no international experience may involve risks. Moreover, Arsenal has to think about priorities: is Eze more urgent than a centre-forward or a more reliable pivot?
On the other hand, there is an interesting reading: signing him would not only be a sporting decision, it would also send a strong message to the rest of the Premier League, by taking a key player away from a rival and winning the race to clubs like Spurs or Liverpool.
Personally, I think if Arsenal don’t sign him, they will regret it. He is young, home-grown, adaptable, and has shown he can shine under pressure. He won’t come cheap, but talent costs. And in a market where there’s a shortage of standout players who understand the pace of the Premiership, Eze looks like an opportunity ripe for the taking. If Arteta wants to fight for everything, players like him should not be left in the shop window.
