If there's one thing that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has become accustomed to, it's having to work with multiple different play-callers.
Since arriving to the NFL, Hurts has had a different play-caller to start the season in each year. That actually goes all the way back another four additional years to when he was in college for both Alabama and Oklahoma.
As he prepares for the 2025 season, this time as a Super Bowl champion, Hurts is working with another signal-caller. Former passing game coordinator turned offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
“Coach Patullo, he’s been here throughout the journey as well,” Hurts said. “He’s had a different position, always played a pivotal role in what we've done. He’s got a great mentality and a great approach coming into everything right now.”
The level of respect Hurts has for Patullo is important. It should set the stage for what should be a different looking Eagles offense going into the new season. One that won't rely on the running game as much as they have in the last few years.
“Things evolve and things change as time goes on,” Hurts said. “We’re just really delving into it. It’s really important. It’s something that I’ve learned, that you have to learn to evolve as time goes on.
Philadelphia, and Hurts especially, have evolved a lot over the years. It's a big reason why they have been so successful together. As Patullo begins to put his stamp on the offense, though, the Eagles' franchise quarterback is excited for what is expected to come next.
