This headline-grabbing move could be just what Everton need this summer.
A new dawn is on the horizon at Everton, and their fans are the most optimistic they have been in years. A new stadium hosting Premier League football, led into this new chapter by probably their best manager of the 21st century in David Moyes, after an outstanding end to the season - they couldn’t have written it better themselves.
Everton “won 2-2” according to Jamie Carragher after a last-minute James Tarkowski goal in the final Goodison Park Merseyside derby in February, one of the moments of the season to fans and neutrals alike as the Premier League said goodbye to one of its oldest and most iconic grounds.
The Toffees will now look to strengthen and see in this new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in style, and they could get get one over on their local rivals once again as a potential transfer target has emerged - one which would grab headlines, but which could be the perfect signing for Everton this summer.
Liverpool name price for Jarell Quansah
Despite Liverpool’s imperious Premier League title-winning season capturing the hearts of all those with a Red persuasion around the city, one man who didn’t enjoy the best season of his career so far was young centre-back Jarell Quansah. Dragged off at half-time on the opening day at Ipswich Town, Quansah largely had to settle for a place amongst the substitutes ever since with Ibrahima Konaté seen as Arne Slot’s preferred partner for captain Virgil van Dijk.
Local rivals Everton have been quoted as one of the potential suitors for Quansah - this would be a daring move to say the least, but it could work surprisingly well for both parties.
Why Everton should go in for Jarell Quansah
At 22, Quansah is ready to start in the Premier League week in, week out, an opportunity he could be given by David Moyes. Amidst constant speculation around the future of Jarrad Branthwaite, Quansah could play alongside or even replace the England defender. With Michael Keane set to depart at the expiry of his contract and 32-year-old Tarkowski the club’s only other senior centre-half, defensive reinforcements this summer are a necessity.
A change from Red to Blue for Quansah would be controversial (and he may get a bit of the Trent Alexander-Arnold treatment on his return to Anfield), but a £30m move for a young player to a club where he could challenge for a starting spot for years to come, in addition to providing Liverpool with pure PSR profit for their former academy star - there could be a genuine possibility this might happen.
