Report: Everton make initial move to beat West Ham to the signing of 'incredible' PL midfielder

Everton will be desperate to get some deals sorted early in the transfer window when it opens.

The Toffees will be counting down the hours until David Moyes and the recruitment staff at Finch Farm can work their magic.

Angus Kinnear will spearhead Everton’s transfer activity following his move from Leeds United earlier this month.

A lot of additions are going to be needed at Everton following a number of exit announcements at the end of various contracts on Merseyside.

It is now expected that Idrissa Gana Gueye will sign a new Everton contract to keep him at the club for a further two years.

But that does not mean Everton should rest on their laurels when the market opens.

With Everton keen to improve their midfield options, it is now claimed the Blues have checked in with one of their targets.

Everton check in on Manchester City’s James McAtee

Abdoulaye Doucoure will depart Everton at the end of his deal which will create a need for an attacking midfielder at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees are looking to immediately combat that after Everton agreed to sign Carlos Alcaraz, but there could be even more good news to follow.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton have now checked in on Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.

The Toffees are not alone with a host of clubs from the Premier League and across Europe also keen to find out more on his situation.

Along with Everton, the following clubs were credited with interest:

Eintracht Frankfurt

VfB Stuttgart

Bayer Leverkusen

Nottingham Forest

West Ham United

McAtee is another City player who could be on the move this summer with Jack Grealish also being linked with Everton.

Alcaraz may well be staying on Merseyside, but there is no reason for Everton not to seek even more quality in that position.

Signing McAtee would be a real statement from the Friedkins

It has been suggested Pep Guardiola would allow McAtee to leave Man City this summer.

Money should not be a huge issue for Everton this summer as the takeover by the Friedkins offers fresh hope.

Moyes is expecting to be financially backed this summer and landing a player like McAtee would surely excite the fans.

Speaking after a game earlier in the season, Guardiola hailed the talent McAtee has to offer.

“He has an incredible sense in front of goal, he has the right tempo, he changed the rhythm to score and I am very happy for him,” he said.

Despite this, Man City are looking to beat Everton to Rayan Cherki who has already entered talks with Guardiola.
