Alan Myers left 'surprised' after Everton share big twist in Carlos Alcaraz signing

Everton have now completed the signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo.

David Moyes has seen one signing made following his return to Merseyside back in January, and that was Alcaraz.

The Argentine landed at Everton on a short-term loan with Everton holding talks recently to sign Alcaraz on a permanent basis.

Although the summer window is not yet open, Everton have now got themselves up and running under the Friedkins.

Everton will forward £590k to Alcaraz’s former side Racing Club due to the FIFA Solidarity Scheme which looks after the training clubs.

Following Abdoulaye Doucoure’s exit from Everton this summer, this marks a strong start to the market for the Toffees.

However, there is something in Alcaraz’s deal with Everton which has really shocked those at Everton.

But for him to only sign a two-year deal in this day and age comes as a real surprise.

Taking to social media, Alan Myers has shared his understanding of the contract which has been signed by the 22-year-old.

“Surprised at that, I was under the impression the original deal was 4 but who knows?” he said.

It will be interesting to see whether the Toffees hold an option to extend his stay as they do with the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite.

Everton fans have been seriously impressed by Alcaraz and his performances playing under Moyes.

There will be very few fans who are not delighted to see the Argentine stick around for a little longer.

But it is certainly a shock to see him only ink a deal for two more years.

Everton have found their Abdoulaye Doucoure replacement

Beto loves playing ahead of Alcaraz with the 26-year-old striker benefitting from the Argentine’s creativity.

Alcaraz has seriously impressed despite often playing behind Doucoure in the pecking order.

But the 22-year-old has outperformed the Mali midfielder despite only playing a fraction of the game time.

In recent weeks, Moyes has shared his delight with Alcaraz as the Argentine earned his permanent stay at the club.

Alcaraz could be a real bargain at just £15m, but surely he has an option in his deal to extend his stay further.
