Sheffield United face Everton interest in 2024 signing

Sheffield United goalkeeper Michael Cooper is a target for Premier League side Everton, according to reporter Alan Nixon.

Sheffield United missed out on promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. SUFC were beaten in the Championship play-off final after coming up short in the automatic promotion hunt.

The Blades will now know a tough window lays ahead, despite the financial backing their new owners are likely to provide in their first summer in charge at Bramall Lane.

Star players are bound to draw interest and it is expected that aces such as Gustavo Hamer and Vini Souza move on. Now, it is said that impressive goalkeeper Michael Cooper has top flight interest too.

Writing on his Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon has said that the Sheffield United number one is a target for Premier League outfit Everton.

Toffees boss David Moyes is keen to bring in stronger cover and competition for England man Jordan Pickford and has Cooper on his radar.

However, Nixon does have encouraging words for the SUFC faithful. It is said that the Steel City side will be in no rush to cash in on their star goalkeeper, and Cooper himself is not interested in a move where her will be watching on from the bench for much of the season.

A fantastic debut Sheffield United campaign

Cooper joined Sheffield United as a goalkeeper held in very high regard. He had emerged as an EFL standout with Plymouth Argyle, where he developed brilliantly after breaking through the academy.

The Exeter-born shot-stopper seems destined to play in the Premier League and will be widely backed to add England caps to his name in the coming years as well.

SUFC will be more than aware of his existing ability and potential, hence the desire to keep him.

However, if a club offers the right fee and a starting berth for Cooper, a deal then becomes far more feasible than this potential Everton move.
