Report: David Moyes closing in on second signing of the summer as Everton set to replace…

Everton are in desperate need of a centre-forward this summer and have been identifying a number of targets.

With Armando Broja back at his parent club Chelsea and Dominic Calvert-Lewin expected to leave Everton at the end of his contract, there is a pressing need to sign a new centre-forward.

David Moyes has been in talks to sign Nick Woltemade, who enjoyed a prolific season in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart last term.

Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson has also been linked with a move to Everton in recent weeks, though, newly-promoted Leeds United are also keen.

But, with all that said, it appears Everton have settled on the striker they want and the deal is now expected to advance.

Everton ready to meet Thierno Barry’s £33m release clause

Everton have been eyeing a move for Thierno Barry in recent weeks after a 19-goal season with Basel and Villarreal.

19 goals

4 assists

The 22-year-old actually outscored Lamine Yamal in La Liga last term, so clearly it’d be a real statement signing if they were able to get a deal done.

And, it looks like that’s a real possibility, with TEAMtalk reporting Everton are now willing to meet Barry’s £33m release clause.

The 6ft 4 frontman is wanted by other Premier League clubs, but the Toffees are ready to advance their interest and make him the second signing of the summer at Finch Farm, after Carlos Alcaraz.

Barry has given green light to Everton move

The report also claims that Barry is keen on a move to the Premier League and is willing to test himself at Everton.

The France under-21 international would likely join as the main man, with Beto dropping to the bench despite his improved form.

That may open the door for Leeds United to sign Beto, as they’re seriously interested in the Toffees forward.

If the club were to sanction his sale, Moyes would have to sign another frontman as they’d be too light, so that seems unlikely at this stage.
