KU’s Zeke Mayo, Dajuan Harris, Hunter Dickinson now attracting NBA attention

The chances of Hunter Dickinson, Dajuan Harris and Zeke Mayo being selected in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft appeared to disappear when the three former Kansas basketball players failed to receive invitations to both the NBA Combine and G League Elite Camp.

Never say never, however.

Various reports have placed the KU trio in NBA cities for individual workouts held in advance of the draft, set for June 25-26 in Brooklyn, New York.

The latest on Dajuan Harris

Harris, according to USA Today’s Rookie Wire, has worked out for the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks. Two former KU players, Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji, play for the Raptors.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Harris — he turns 25 on Dec. 11 — averaged 9.2 points per game last season for the Jayhawks (21-13). The all-Big 12 honorable mention selection was second in the league and 27th nationally in assists per game with 5.7. He led KU in steals with 47.

The Columbia, Missouri native had 16 games with 10 or more points and 25 contests with five or more assists. He had a career-high 12 assists against Houston and tied his career high with six steals versus Oklahoma State.

There’s always a chance if undrafted, he, Mayo and Dickinson could sign as free agents to play for an NBA franchise’s Summer League team.

Hunter Dickinson works out with New Orleans Pelicans

Dickinson, a 7-2, 265-pound center from Alexandria, Virginia, who turns 25 on Nov. 25, worked out with the New Orleans Pelicans on June 5, according to NBA writer Will Guillory of The Athletic. Others who attended that Pelicans workout: RJ Davis (North Carolina), Johnell Davis (Arkansas) and Steven Crowl (Wisconsin).

Dickinson, who averaged 17.4 points and 10 rebounds per contest in 2024-25, scored 32 points at Colorado and a career-high-tying 33 points versus Arizona on Senior Night.

Dickinson recently signed a sponsorship deal with LinkedIn and filmed a video that poked fun at the fact he may need to get a job soon if pro teams do not want to sign him.

“One minute you are getting college scholarship offers from coaches and doing brand deals for skincare products then … crickets. Over 2,800 points, 1,500 rebounds, seven years of college eligibility … the NIL money has dried up so preparing to end my career I did what any athlete would do. I got on LinkedIn,” Dickinson said in the commercial, while tying a necktie. He added he was “building toward my next career off the court.”

Zeke Mayo checks out historic franchises

Mayo, a 6-4 combo guard from Lawrence, has had individual workouts with the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs according to Rookie Wire.

Mayo, who turns 23 on Dec. 18, averaged 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in his one year at KU. He played three seasons at South Dakota State. He shot 44% from the field and 42% from the 3-point line a year ago.

None of the Jayhawks on the 2024-25 roster have appeared in any of the various mock drafts. In fact no Jayhawk ranks on ESPN’s list of the top-100 draft prospects.
