Arsenal’s transfer window is heating up, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo emerging as a prime target for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The 24-year-old Brazilian winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, as the Gunners aim to bolster their attacking options for the 2025/26 season. Reports indicate that Rodrygo’s future at Real Madrid is uncertain, particularly under new manager Xabi Alonso, who may not include the versatile forward in his long-term plans.
Rodrygo, who has spent six seasons at Real Madrid, is reportedly keen to secure a regular role as a left winger, a position currently dominated by Vinicius Jr. at the Bernabeu.

This preference has sparked speculation about his potential departure, with Arsenal among several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City, expressing interest.
According to sources, Rodrygo’s representatives have held discussions with Arsenal, and the player has indicated a willingness to join if assured a prominent role on the left flank, where he would compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
The Athletic reports that Rodrygo and his agent are awaiting a crucial meeting with Alonso before entering negotiations, as the player seeks assurances about his importance to Real Madrid’s project.
However, Spanish outlet Fichajes suggests that Rodrygo has “one and a half feet out” of the club, with Alonso’s tactical vision potentially sidelining him in favor of stars like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.

Arsenal’s interest is further fueled by Arteta’s admiration for Rodrygo’s versatility and proven quality, with the winger contributing 18 goals and seven assists in the 2024/25 season.
Despite a reported £250,000-per-week wage demand and a transfer fee exceeding £70 million, Arsenal are prepared to make a significant financial push, potentially funding the move through player sales.
While Rodrygo recent Instagram post captioned “Happy” suggests contentment at Real Madrid, the Gunners remain hopeful that talks with Alonso could pave the way for a blockbuster transfer to North London.
