Manchester United are planning to use Joshua Zirkzee in a deal to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen during the summer. The Red Devils have prioritised the attacking department at the early stages of the window, already signing forward Matheus Cunha.
Ruben Amorim wants to solve the attacking part of his team before focusing on other vulnerable areas in the squad. The senior team failed to adjust to his tactical demands last season, which played a big mitigating factor for United.
As United finished the season in 16th position in the Premier League, well below their stature, they need drastic changes. Even before Amorim joined the Red Devils, Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund had failed to establish themselves as the regular starters.
Manchester United are ready to use Joshua Zirkzee to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
After signing Cunha, United are already doing everything to sign Brentford’s prolific Bryan Mbeumo to bolster their attacking department. If United secure Mbeumo, then they would potentially cross £120m transfer spending on just Cunha and the Brentford forward this summer.
With no player or surplus departed yet, United are facing a financial strain which could require implementing a different negotiation. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, United want Napoli star Osimhen and are ready to use Zirkzee as part of the transfer deal.
Osimhen rejected a massive offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in favour of staying in Europe during the summer. Al-Hilal made an offer of €75m (£63.5 m), which is for Osimhen’s release clause for teams outside of Serie A.
Napoli are demanding the release clause as the minimum transfer fee for the 26-year-old forward during the summer transfer window. As the Red Devils cannot afford to pay another big fee for an attacker, using Zirkzee is a wise change of negotiation strategy.
