Chelsea supporters were left feeling disappointed on Tuesday after the club failed to sign Mike Maignan and Jamie Gittens.
Chelsea made an offer for Maignan before the transfer deadline but were unsuccessful. Chelsea also made two proposals for Gittens; however, they had no success there either.
The above were frustrating developments for the Blues, especially with the Club World Cup kicking off shortly.
As the summer goes on, though, Chelsea may be able to give their supporters something to smile about.

Chelsea could re-enter talks for Mike Maignan next week
Chelsea are set to return for Gittens when the transfer window opens again next Monday, which is not a surprise.
The Blues are light on the flanks right now, so they could really do with the arrival of a new winger.
As well as Gittens, though, the club could also reopen discussions for Maignan. After some “further digging”, sources have informed journalist Simon Phillips that Chelsea could go back in for talks with Milan as early as next week.
For now, Enzo Maresca will have to persist with Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen. He also has Djordje Petrovic and Mike Penders, but the former is not expected to travel to America for the Club World Cup, while the latter is still only 19 years of age.

It has been claimed that Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen was also on Chelsea’s shortlist, but Maignan ended up being the goalkeeper they prioritised.

Alisson hails Mike Maignan as one of the world’s best
If Chelsea do go on to sign Maignan, Liverpool star Alisson thinks they will be getting one of the best shot-stoppers in world football.
When Alisson spoke about Maignan before Liverpool’s game against Milan last September, he said (via Get French Football News): “He is physical, quick, he has clean technique. He is very strong. He is one of the best in the world. The quality of goalkeepers has really increased — Mike Maignan is within this elite.”
It is high praise, with Alisson being arguably the No.1 goalkeeper in world football. The pair are at levels that Sanchez and Jorgensen have simply not been able to reach at Chelsea.
