There aren’t many players as popular as Kieran Tierney.
Even though Tierney is leaving Arsenal as a free agent, the Celtic hero departs with his head held high and a firm fan favourite.
Tierney’s return to Celtic had been known for months; it was just a case of getting it signed, sealed and confirmed by the powers that be.
The news about the 28-year-old’s return to his boyhood club broke on Tuesday afternoon, and the Celtic Park faithful were delighted.
The English press, after watching Tierney spend six years in London, also shared their thoughts.

Sky Sports on Kieran Tierney becoming ‘one of the best players in Scotland’
Sky Sports is the lead broadcaster of football in the UK, and they noted how Tierney is appreciated by the Celtic fans when reacting to his return.
The British broadcaster also stated that, if Tierney can ‘keep himself fit’, then they see no reason why he can’t be ‘one of the best players in Scotland.
Sky Sports noted: ‘Tierney returns to a club where he is loved by the fans. I don’t think anybody will argue with the fact that, if Kieran Tierney can keep himself fit, then he immediately becomes one of the best players in Scotland.’

Tierney signs ‘blockbuster’ Celtic contract
The Daily Star also opted for the ‘fairytale’ line, and how he has sealed a ‘blockbuster’ five-year contract.
Of course, this is where Celtic’s recruitment team needs to be applauded because, after leaving for £25 million, he now returns for nothing.
And, just like Jota’s return during the winter transfer window, Celtic are proving, once again, why they are the best in Europe at buying and selling players.
