Manchester United are being backed to sign Viktor Gyokeres over their Premier League rivals this summer

Manchester United continue to be linked with a summer move for Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres in their search for a new striker.

The Sweden international has emerged as one of Europe's top strikers in recent years, with a remarkable record of 97 goals in 102 matches since his move from Coventry City to Liga Portugal in July 2023.

Sporting's leading goal scorer this season has made a huge impact in the Portuguese top-flight, scoring 39 goals and providing eight assists in 33 appearances. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in Rui Borges' squad, propelling Sporting to another league title and cup.

Reports on Tuesday from *Sky Sports*claimed that officials from Old Trafford have made an approach to sign Gyokeres. It is said that the Reds are exploring the conditions of a potential deal.

Gyokeres reportedly has a gentleman's agreement to leave Sporting this summer for offers above £58million (€70m) despite a release clause of around £84m (€100m).

And the bookmakers at*Bet365*. have United as firm favourites to sign the striker at odds of 2/7. Premier League rivals Arsenal are seen as second favourites at 7/1 with the Gunners appearing to be focusing more on RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko instead.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest are four other top-flight rivals being linked, although their odds are much longer than United's. Atletico Madrid are the only non-English team being linked to feature in the odds.
