Three Premier League clubs pushing to sign Djordje Petrovic after Chelsea's Club World Cup snub

The future of Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic is very much up in the air right now after reports surrounding their Club World Cup squad began to surface.

The Blues are set to leave Petrovic out of their squad for the trip to the United States, with the feeling being that the majority of players who spent last season on loan are not set to feature.

This doesn’t appear to be the same for Andrey Santos though. Todd Boehly already confirmed Santos would be present for the Club World Cup after a year and a half at Strasbourg.

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have told Petrovic he can leave this summer, as Enzo Maresca seeks a permanent solution to their goalkeeping woes.

Premier League interest in Djordje Petrovic after Chelsea’s Club World Cup snub

This news seems to have put other clubs on alert as they sense an opportunity to bring in the Serbia international, who made headlines again after saving a penalty during the international break.

TalkSPORT have reported that three Premier League clubs have interest in signing Petrovic this summer.

They claim that West Ham, Leeds and Bournemouth are all in the race to bring him in, with the latter in particular in need of a new goalkeeper.

Their last number one, Kepa Arrizabalaga, is set to move to Arsenal from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s ongoing goalkeeper saga

As well as a willingness to part ways with Petrovic, the Blues are likely to be open to offers for Robert Sanchez should they come their way during the transfer window.

Maresca has lost faith in Sanchez despite his strong end to the campaign at Stamford Bridge, and will likely have been hoping for a new name to come through the door before the window closed on Tuesday.

The Blues were pushing hard to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan after the player made it clear he wanted a move to West London.

However, a deal was not agreed, and they will have to weigh up whether they revisit the potential transfer following the beginning of the Club World Cup.
