NBA Drafts are typically hard to predict, but in the Sacramento Kings’ case this year, it’s nearly impossible.
Sacramento will enter the two-day 2025 NBA Draft on June 25-26 without a first-round pick as it searches for answers to salvaging its current roster. The Kings’ first-round selection was conveyed to Atlanta as part of the 2022 trade that brought Kevin Huerter to the team.
Last year, Sacramento had plenty of prep work to do as they held the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Following a lengthy pre-draft workout and interview process, they landed on Providence guard Devin Carter, who spent most of his rookie season dealing with his recovery and rehab from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
This year, the Kings hold one draft pick–the 42nd overall pick–in the second round, although they could look to move up on draft day.
Here’s how NBA Mock Drafts around the basketball world view the Sacramento Kings’ 42nd pick in the 2025 NBA Draft:

Bleacher Report: Bogoljub Markovic (Mega, PF)
Size: 6’11”, 213 lbs
Nationality: Serbia
Pro Comparison: Aleksej Pokusevski
“Bogoljub Markovic didn’t help himself at the abbreviated combine in Treviso. But there should still be second-round interest in a 6’11” forward with the offensive versatility to shoot threes, score from the post, handle in transition and pass.”
Sports Illustrated: John Tonje (Wisconsin, G)
Size: 6’5, 218 lbs
Age: 24
Nationality: USA
Pro Comparison: AJ Green
Stats: 19.6 PTS, 5.3 REB, 1.8 AST, 46% FG, 38% 3PT
The Athletic: Maxime Raynaud (Stanford, C)
Size: 7’0, 250 lbs
Age: 22
Nationality: France
Pro Comparison: Alex Len
Stats: 20.2 PTS, 10.6 REB, 1.7 AST, 1.4 BLK, 46% FG, 34% 3PT
Bleacher Report (Part 2): Hansen Yang (Qingdao, C)
Size: 7’1″, 253 lbs
Nationality: China
Pro Comparison: Andrew Bogut
“Every scout presumably watched film of Hansen Yang putting up numbers in China. But they also had to see him execute against mostly different-caliber athletes in the 2025 NBA draft discussion. And Yang looked like he belonged, playing with swagger and confidence while scoring 12 points in the opening scrimmage and totaling 11 points, six boards and six assists at the NBA combine.
He delivered a number of wow plays, including a three-pointer, some fancy footwork from the post and a few beautiful dimes that highlighted obvious passing IQ and quick processing.”
Tankathon: Tyrese Proctor (Duke, G)
Size: 6’5, 183 lbs
Age: 21
Nationality: Australia
Pro Comparison: Spencer Dinwiddie
Stats: 12.4 PTS, 3.0 REB, 2.2 AST, 45% FG, 40% 3PT
