There has been a host of speculation surrounding the Belgian's future of late, but Napoli have recently emerged as the favourites, and it appears that a switch to the Italian champions is now close to being completed.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, De Bruyne will have a medical with Napoli on Thursday ahead of signing a contract with the Blues, who won the 2024-25 Serie A title.
De Bruyne had been linked with moves to the MLS and Saudi Pro League, while there was believed to be Premier League interest in his services, but the Belgian is set to continue his career in Serie A.

De Bruyne failed to show his best form for Man City during the 2024-25 campaign, but he still made 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and registering eight assists in the process.
The attacker netted four goals and provided seven assists in 28 Premier League matches, while he featured on seven occasions in the Champions League.
Overall, De Bruyne has played for the Citizens on 422 occasions, scoring 108 goals and registering 177 assists, and he will be remembered as one of the club's best-ever players.
Man City could potentially come up against De Bruyne in the Champions League next season, and he will be determined to show that he still has what it takes to operate at the top level.

Will Garnacho follow De Bruyne to Napoli?
Napoli also continue to be linked with a move for Alejandro Garnacho, who is set to leave Manchester United during this summer's transfer window.
The Italian outfit had at least one offer for the Argentina international rejected during the January market, but he has allegedly been told that he is free to leave this summer.
Napoli are thought to be in a five-club race for Garnacho, with Aston Villa, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen also showing an interest in the 20-year-old.
Man United are believed to want in the region of £70m for Garnacho, with the 20-time English champions said to be prepared to hold firm when it comes to their valuation.
Napoli were not willing to meet Man United's asking price in January, and it remains to be seen whether their stance has changed ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
