Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is keen for his former club to sign Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
Writing on Instagram (via The Mirror) during England’s 3-1 defeat to Senegal, Scholes posted a picture of the player and said “just buy him”, suggesting that the Red Devils should do all they can to secure his signature this summer.
Eze does have a £68m release clause in his contract, and he would be a good fit for Ruben Amorim’s front three, playing in one of the two No.10 positions.

However, his price is pretty steep and United have already spent a sizeable amount on a similar player in recent weeks.
Cunha’s arrival does make a move for Eze unlikely
United have shelled out £62.5m on Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer. Some may argue that the Brazilian international is more of a forward than an attacking midfielder.
However, Cunha has been signed to play behind a main striker. With Bryan Mbeumo targeted for a role on the right-hand side, there wouldn’t be much room for Eze to play.
Of course, the squad could do with having as many quality forwards as possible, but any bid for someone like the Palace star would probably have to be funded by departures of unwanted players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho.
Scholes has the backing of a former Man United teammate
Speaking last month, ex-United striker Teddy Sheringham named Eze as a potential summer transfer target.
He said that the Crystal Palace star would “walk into” the club’s starting eleven, although he felt the 26-year-old could also play for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.
