Wes Schweitzer was a member of the Atlanta Falcons from 2016 to 2019. Atlanta drafted Schweitzer in the 6th round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of San Jose State University.
Schweitzer was inactive for his rookie year before taking over as a starting guard in 2017. During the course of his career, he has played in 90 regular-season games with 62 starts, 28 at left guard, six at center, and 28 at right guard. During his Falcons tenure, he would play 46 games and start 36 of them.
After leaving Atlanta, Schweitzer continued his career by signing with the Washington Commanders and New York Jets. After dealing with injuries during those years, Schweitzer signed a deal with the New England Patriots on March 17th of this year.

He was expected to make a run at starting left guard for the Patriots before deciding to retire. The announcement was made earlier today via a press release from the New England Patriots.
Coming out of college, Schweitzer was predicted to be an average backup or special teamer. Some draft experts even considered him a priority undrafted free agent. He would develop into a loyal protector for his quarterbacks that he would play with, and exceed expectations after being a bottom-of-the-roster, or practice-squad type of draftee.
At 6-foot-5, 314 pounds, Schweitzer decided to call it a career due to continuing injuries. At the age of 31, he will now reside in Scottsdale, Arizona. But, according to his Twitter (X), a comeback cannot be ruled out.
