One thing I love about this Denver Broncos front office is that they are building their roster up yearly with smart move after smart move.
Is J.K. Dobbins going to light the world on fire this season for the Broncos? History says he might for part of the season, but end up injured.
History also tells us that last year, he was the best running back the Chargers had on their team. With one of the league’s best strength and conditioning groups in the NFL, Dobbins will have the best chance with this team of turning around his health concerns.
If he can stay healthy, he’s an instant upgrade to the running back room, whether he’s the #1 or #2 back.
The thing I like most about this move is the contract we signed him to. It is a prove-it style contract opportunity for a back who can’t seem to shake the injury bug. He gets $2.75M with the ability to earn another $2.5M in incentives based on actual yards gained.
It is the perfect chance for him to continue his career and show the Broncos or another NFL team that he has what it takes for a bigger contract in the future.
