Viktor Gyokeres transfer insider drops bombshell as Arsenal told move preference

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has been tipped to move to the Premier League this summer amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Gyokeres has been heavily linked with signing for the Gunners ever since last year, with the rumours intensifying since the January transfer window.

Arsenal are in the market for a new striker this summer, with Gyokeres regularly mentioned as a potential target. The Gunners also hold interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, as Mikel Arteta plans to bring a centre forward to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.

It's not just Arsenal who have been credited with an interest in signing Gyokeres this summer, with Manchester United also mentioned as a potential destination.

In fact, musician Tom Grennan has claimed that he believes Gyokeres will complete a move to Old Trafford this summer. The striker joined Sporting from Coventry City in the summer of 2023, with Grennan a supporter of the Championship outfit.

Grennan says that he often speaks to Gyokeres and claims that he expects the striker to sign for United this summer amid interest from Arsenal.

"I know him [Gyokeres] well," Grennan said on the BBC podcast You About? "I actually messaged him and he said that there's different conversations going on. Do you know who his best friend is? [Erling] Haaland. That is why I think he'll go to Manchester United because he'll be next door to Haaland."

Gyokeres is reported to have a €100million (£85million) release clause in his contract at Sporting. There have been suggestions, though, that the Portuguese club would be willing to accept a lower fee in the region of £60million.

However, fresh reports from Portugal recently claimed that Sporting had increased their price tag for Gyokeres up to €80million (£68million).
