Celtics Could Make Surprise Move With Jaylen Brown

The Boston Celtics received catastrophic news during the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles, which means he’ll most likely be out for the entire 2025-26 season.

In many ways, Tatum is the heart and soul of the organization, a superstar player who has made a monumental impact.

While losing Tatum is a disheartening blow, fans could take solace in the fact that Jaylen Brown wasn’t going anywhere, or so they thought.

Though Brown is a marquee player and a big piece for the Celtics, he reportedly could get traded this offseason.

“There’s a sense among rival teams that Jaylen Brown is not completely untouchable on the Celtics’ roster,” Evan Sidery of Forbes wrote on X. “It would take a mammoth offer for Boston to even consider trading Brown, but the possibility certainly appears in play.”

If the Celtics did trade Brown, it would mark the start of a rebuild, something the franchise hasn’t done very much in its history.

They’d need to receive a plethora of draft picks and young players to make this happen, which might give comfort to fans.

However, Dallas Mavericks fans were certain that Luka Doncic would be with the organization for the long haul, and he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

If the Celtics believe it’s in their best interests to move on from Brown, they might consider it.
