Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly contacted Liverpool regarding the availability of Jarell Quansah. As reported by Fabrizio Romano (via LFC Transfer Room), the German giants are keen on the 22-year-old defender.
Bayer Leverkusen have already seen Liverpool sign one of their star players this summer in the form of Jeremie Frimpong. Arne Slot's side are said to be close to landing Florian Wirtz from the German side in a club record €150 million deal with add-ons.
Jarell Quansah is now reportedly being eyed by the Bundesliga side as they look to bolster their defensive ranks. Bayer Leverkusen have parted ways with Xabi Alonso in the summer, with former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag replacing the Spaniard.
Quansah came through Liverpool's youth ranks and made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in January 2023. He has made 58 appearances for the Reds so far, serving as a backup behind Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
A right-footed centre-back, he can also play at right-back and is a ball-playing defender. Quansah is quite calm and composed while on the ball and is also known for his excellent passing ability.
Former Liverpool striker believes the Reds should have signed Manchester United target as Mohamed Salah's successor
Ex-Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has claimed that the Reds should have signed Bryan Mbeumo in the summer. He has insisted that the Cameroon international would have been a brilliant replacement for Mohamed Salah in the long run.
In a recent chat with Betting website Prime Casino, Heskey said:
"It's hard to ever say Liverpool make mistakes in the market because their strategy is usually just so solid. I would have loved to have seen Bryan Mbeumo at Anfield though. He's got loads going for him. He was someone that is tried and tested in the Premier League for a few years as well."
Heskey added:
"His work rate's astounding. He knows where the goal is. He's very, very technical and understands the way that Liverpool would want to play. So it was interesting to see that they never really went in for him."
Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly valued at £60 million by Brentford and has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. The forward had a brilliant last season with the Bees, scoring 20 goals and providing eight assists in 38 Premier League games.
