Kyrie Irving Calls For Fans To Stop Making Fun Of Knicks Star

Over the last few weeks, a lot of NBA fans have been poking fun at Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks.

They have been making fun of the way that he speaks and acts, and his fellow NBA star, Kyrie Irving, has had enough.

On a recent live stream, via Legion Hoops, Irving called out the people who are taking digs at Towns.

“Before I forget, y’all got to stop making fun of my brother, [Karl-Anthony Towns]. I’m done with y’all. Y’all gotta leave KAT alone, okay? Y’all don’t know what it’s like to grow up in Jersey and have all of these cultures that you’re a part of. Trust me on that. He’s Dominican. He’s black. He grew up in a certain area in Jersey, just like me, and you’ve got to survive out here. This man, he’s my brother, and I’ll protect him all the time,” Irving said.

So, Irving has told people to leave Towns alone, but will they?

The ridicule around Towns hasn’t always been from Knicks haters, and even some who love the team have gotten in on the act.

Perhaps Irving’s plea for them to stop will have an impact.

Even though they don’t play on the same team, it is not surprising to see Irving stand up for Towns because he has repeatedly made his opinions known about a variety of topics.

Sometimes, those opinions have landed him in hot water, but he hasn’t created many controversies lately.

Will Irving’s attempt to stop this stuff pay off, or will the jokes about Towns continue?
