Luis Diaz's future at Liverpool continues to be the subject of speculation even after the transfer window closed. The deadline passed at 7pm on Tuesday ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, but will reopen again next Monday and remain so for the rest of the summer.

The Reds have already been linked with several potential new signings this summer, having already signed Jeremie Frimpong and Armin Pecsi. In terms of players heading in the other direction, though, it's Diaz whose future has been dominating headlines over the last few weeks.

Barcelona have previously expressed an interest in signing the Colombia international, with Liverpool recently rejecting an official approach from the La Liga outfit. Even though there is also interest from Saudi Arabia, the Reds have no plans to allow Diaz to leave Anfield this summer.

A fresh report from Mundo Deportivo in Spain has claimed that Barcelona have now identified Diaz as their number one transfer target.

It has been claimed the La Liga giants have decided not to pursue a deal for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams, and will instead focus their attention on Diaz instead.

As reported by the ECHO last week, Liverpool are defiant in their stance that Diaz is not for sale this summer. The 28-year-old is under contract until 2027 and recently opened up about his future on Merseyside and the possibility of a new deal with the club.

"I'm very happy at Liverpool - I've always said so. They've welcomed me very well," Diaz said in an interview with beIN SPORTS last week.

"If Liverpool gives us a good extension, or I have to see out my two-year contract, I'll be happy."

Diaz was recently in action for Colombia where he scored a stunning solo goal for his country in a 1-1 draw with Argentina in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night.
