Uncertainty continues to cloud the futures of several Manchester United players this summer, with a major squad overhaul expected under new leadership.

Marcus Rashford remains heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.

While Alejandro Garnacho is to depart after falling out with Ruben Amorim.

Jadon Sancho is another name on the list of likely exits, with the 25-year-old failing to fully revive his career during a mixed loan spell at Chelsea.

The London club ended up paying the £5m penalty fee in order for the Englishman to return to United despite the obligatory fee.

Now, Chelsea have confirmed via their official club website that Sancho will return to Manchester United following the conclusion of his loan.

Sancho joined the Blues on a season-long loan deal on August 31 last summer and went on to make 41 appearances, scoring five goals.

The last of which came in the UEFA Conference League final win over Real Betis on May 28.

The club stated: “Everyone at Chelsea would like to thank Jadon for his efforts and we wish him every success for the future.”

It was a short statement – but one that shouldn’t come as much surprise considering his lack of sustained impact under Enzo Maresca.

Despite the uncertainty around his next move, Borussia Dortmund were quickly mentioned as a potential destination for Sancho.

Obviously given his strong past with the German club.

However, sporting director Sebastian Kehl has poured cold water on those rumours, stating: “We have other priorities at the moment and that’s why the Sancho issue was probably played up more in the media than discussed internally.”

United fans will be hoping that the club can get rid of the players deemed ‘deadwood’ in aim of rebuilding under Amorim.

Missing out on Champions League football means the Red Devils need to push for maximum returns in sale of their players.

A task very much easier said than done.
