Numerous figures whether past or present at Manchester United have received major honours over the years.

David Beckham was awarded with a knighthood – the highest honour in the King’s Birthday Honours list for 2025.

While Sir Jim Ratcliffe was honoured with the ‘Sheldon Medal’ from Oxford University, earlier this year.

David Moyes has now been recognised as one of the most enduring figures in English football, with a career that spans decades across several top clubs.

Having managed Everton, West Ham, and Manchester United, Moyes returned to Goodison Park in January and successfully steered Everton clear of relegation.

Now, as per BBC, the 62-year-old has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the Prince of Wales.

Moyes received the honour at Windsor Castle and was congratulated by Prince William on Everton’s improved second half of the campaign, as well as his past success at West Ham.

Speaking to PA (Press Association), Moyes said: “I think in many ways it shows that the royal family are very much part of the people as well and want to do normal things in life.”

The ex-Celtic and Preston player admitted he was initially stunned to hear about the honour back in December, having missed messages from the Home Office.

“I went back, we checked, and I’ve got to say it was a big moment for both me and my wife.

“It was emotional,” he told PA.

Moyes believes winning the Europa Conference League with West Ham in 2023 played a key role in his inclusion on the New Year Honours list.

“Bringing a trophy to West Ham, I think was huge.

“I’ve been really fortunate that I’ve been able to manage and stay in the game for a long time,” he said.

As per BBC, Moyes now holds the third-most Premier League matches managed, trailing only Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.
