Espanyol stopper Joan Garcia is expected to complete a move to Barcelona shortly after the [Catalan giants spring his 25 million euro release clause](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/6/10/24446562/joan-garcias-agents-in-barcelona-to-finalise-deal-for-espanyol-goalkeeper).
The goalkeeper will sign a six-year contract at Barcelona and is expected to be the club’s first choice for the 2025-26 season.
He’s also in line for a huge pay rise, according to Sport. Garcia was one of Espanyol’s lowest-paid players and earned €300,000 per year at Barca’s local rivals.
Given his importance to the team, it comes as a surprise that Garcia was recognised as such in the salary stakes at Espanyol.
Yet that is all about to change when he moves to Barcelona. Sport report that Garcia will see his wages will rise “tenfold” at Barcelona and that he’ll earn close to close to €3 million per season at Hansi Flick’s side.
Garcia will therefore be in the “upper middle part of the team’s salary scale” but could potentially earn more if he hits certain bonuses.
