'Judgement' - Ben Foster warns key Ruben Amorim target will face 'awful lot more pressure' at Man Utd, 'more eyes' will …

Former Manchester United player Ben Foster believes that one summer target for Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad faces a real challenge with a move to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim has already seen his first major summer transfer arrive at Old Trafford after the end of a turbulent 2024-25 campaign for the Red Devils.

Manchester United signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves and paid the Premier League club a £62.5m fee after triggering the player’s release clause earlier this month.

Matheus Cunha was a key transfer for United and the 26-year-old Brazilian international has impressed Amorim after his 2024-25 season with Wolves.

The first phase of the summer transfer window is now over after it closed on Tuesday, having opened on 1st June, ahead of the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The window will reopen on 16th June and Amorim will continue the overhaul of his United first-team squad that he inherited from Erik ten Hag last November.

Ben Foster drops his feelings on Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo amid transfer interest from Man Utd and Tottenham

Bryan Mbeumo has been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks and the 25-year-old French-born winger is believed to be keen on a move to Old Trafford.

United reportedly offered a bid for the Cameroon international in the region of £45m, with the Red Devils including a further £10m in performance-related add-ons.

However, Brentford have rejected United’s first approach for Mbeumo and the Bees are believed to be holding out for a transfer fee of over £60m for the player.

Mbeumo has been linked with Tottenham and the transfer speculation has ramped up with Brentford boss Thomas Frank now tipped to be the next Spurs manager.

Ben Foster has now offered his two cents on the decision for Mbeumo, who is under contract with Brentford until 2026, to move to United or Tottenham this summer.

Speaking on the ‘Fozcast – The Ben Foster Podcast,’ he said: “It’s not exactly a rock and a hard place, is it?!

“It’s like five-star and six-star [hotel]… am I going for a swimming pool in my room or having to just go to the top floor for the swimming pool? It’s still pretty nice!

“If you want to be part of something that’s going to make you probably a better footballer, work hard and be part of a team, then go to Spurs with Thomas Frank.”

Ben Foster sends telling message to Tottenham target Bryan Mbeumo about Man Utd ahead of his potential Brentford exit

Bryan Mbeumo impressed under Brentford manager Thomas Frank last season and he scored 20 times and registered nine assists in 42 matches across all competitions.

Foster has insisted that the Cameroon and Brentford winger could still move to Old Trafford, but he has warned Mbeumo about the challenge ahead of him.

“If you are happy picking up your wages, knowing that there’s going to be an awful lot more pressure, a lot more eyes on you, a lot more judgement… but with their record in the last couple of years, failure is kind of just part of what they do… then you’d just go to Manchester United,” he added.

United completed their post-season tour of Asia in May and Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils will now return to action for their pre-season campaign in July.
