Chelsea have announced their 28-man squad that will travel to the United States to represent the club at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Blues will step on the plane on Friday, 13th June, ahead of their opening game of the competition against Los Angeles FC in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, 16 June.
They will then travel to Philadelphia, the location of their other two matches in the group stage.
The 28-man squad includes new signings but not players loaned out for the 24/25 season (with the exception of Andrey Santos).
According to reports from Matt Law, the club holds the view that this competition is an extension of the 24/25 season, and has therefore excluded loanees from the squad, as they want continuity.
Here is a look at the squad chosen to participate.
New signings on the plane
Chelsea will have four new faces in the Club World Cup, including Liam Delap, who the Blues signed from Ipswich less than two weeks ago.
The striker will be looking to hit the ground running in an attempt to prove why he should be the number one striker over Nicolas Jackson ahead of next season.
Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr, who were signed from Sporting CP and RC Strasbourg, respectively, will also be hoping to make their debut for the club in the competition.
Young goalkeeper Mike Penders, who the club signed from Genk a year ago, will also feature in a Chelsea squad for the first time after spending last year on loan back to Genk.
Notable Exclusions
The omission that will provide the biggest shock to Chelsea fans is undoubtedly Djordje Petrovic, who most would have expected to compete.
The Serbian goalkeeper had a successful 24/25 season in Ligue 1, achieving 10 clean sheets in his 31 appearances.
His exclusion from the squad has raised questions around the 25-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge in a season where he was expected to challenge to become the club's first-choice goalkeeper.
Other players to be left out of the squad include Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling and João Félix.
**Kendry Páez**and Mathias Amougou have also been left out of the squad as the pair are expected to be sent on loan to Strasbourg for the 25/26 season.
Wesley Fofana will also miss out as the Frenchman continues to recover from an injury he picked up last season.
Key Players
Cole Palmer
Chelsea's new number ten will have a point to prove as he looks to gain some form heading into the new season. Palmer endured a tough second half to the 24/25 season but is still certainly a crucial player for the Blues in this tournament.
Andrey Santos
After impressing at Strasbourg this past season, Andrey Santos will be looking to stake a claim for regular first-team football for the Blues. There is certainly a lot of excitement surrounding Santos' involvement in the Club World Cup, and the Brazilian will want to hit the ground running.
Nicolas Jackson
Following the signing of Delap, Jackson will know that he has to be at the top of his game if he wants to retain his position as the club's number one striker. His role in the squad is still unknown, as some anticipate that the Senegalese may occupy a position on the wing.
