Report: 'Brilliant' Liverpool youngster is now going to be given a big chance to impress Arne Slot in pre-season

Liverpool have a massive first-team squad that is bursting at the seams with talent.

Indeed, Arne Slot chose to stick to a very similar line-up each week during the 2024-25 campaign, but that doesn’t mean the quality among the rest of their squad isn’t up to standard.

This summer, however, it’s evident that the Reds are going to be making many changes to their squad, as has already been shown by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Anfield exit.

Players such as Hugo Ekitike, Ousmane Diomande and Benjamin Sesko have all been linked with a Liverpool move; however, there are still some players within Slot’s squad that he seemingly wants to give a chance to.

Jayden Danns looks set to be given some game time in Liverpool’s pre-season

Jayden Danns was one of the many academy players who Jurgen Klopp gave their first-team debut to.

Danns’ debut was rather spectacular, and that’s because he managed to bag two goals and even earned himself a loan move to Sunderland in the January transfer window.

Unfortunately, the striker failed to make an appearance for the Mackems due to an injury he sustained, but his quality must have still shone through as Slot looks set to give the striker an ‘opportunity’ in pre-season.

That is, according to a report from The Athletic, who outline that he’s going to get a chance in pre-season.

The report also adds that Danns ‘won’t be short of suitors’ with ‘regular game time’ being the best thing for his development at the moment.

No clubs that may be interested are named in the report, but if he manages to impress, the striker could well find himself on yet another loan move with another chance to prove his ability.

Liverpool need a new striker this summer

There’s no denying that Liverpool need a new striker this summer, especially if Darwin Nunez jumps ship and chooses to exit Anfield.

Viktor Gyokeres is among the names who have been linked with a Liverpool move, with the Swedish international one of the most sought-after players in football at the moment.

Ekitike’s name has also been heavily linked with a move, but at the moment, nothing concrete has yet occurred.

Player Games Goals Assists

Hugo Ekitike 48 22 12

Viktor Gyokeres 52 54 13

The 2024-25 seasons of Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres in numbers.

That’s likely because the Reds are on the verge of confirming Florian Wirtz’s move, with the deal for the German massively surpassing Liverpool’s club-record fee.

Indeed, only time will tell what the future holds, but if Danns impresses Slot enough and performs to his “brilliant” standards once again, he could even become their sixth-choice attacker.
