Amid uncertainty over what number Trent Alexander-Arnold would wear upon moving from Liverpool to Real Madrid this summer, Los Blancos – now led by Xabi Alonso – have announced their squad list for the 2025 Club World Cup with shirt numbers attached to every player, including the Scouser.
Widely regarded as one of the best players in Anfield history, he arrived on Spanish soil after a long and drawn-out saga that saw him switch England for Spain on a free transfer, though Real Madrid paid €10 million to secure his services earlier than expected.
But alongside what the right-back will be able to provide the La Liga outfit, there have been questions over what number he’d wear as La Liga regulations dictated that he would not be able to wear No.66, which was chosen by Liverpool's kit management coordinator, Lee Radcliffe, to keep him grounded.
Alexander-Arnold's Real Madrid Confirmed Ahead of Club World Cup
Ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup getting underway, Real Madrid have released a list of every player that will be heading Stateside in pursuit of summer glory – and Alexander-Arnold, as expected, has been included alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham.
Despite wearing the No.66 for a large chunk of his career thus far, the 26-year-old has opted for No.12 at the fabled Santiago Bernabeu. Alongside that, it has been reported that he will have ‘Trent’ on the back of his shirt rather than ‘Alexander-Arnold’.
