Finally some good news regarding Campbell

It's already been a whirlwind of an offseason for Campbell, who had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. He did participate in the NFL Combine, but did not work out at Alabama's Pro Day.

Last year with the Crimson Tide, Campbell led the team in tackles with 117 and added 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and one interception in 13 games. That helped him earn first-team All-SEC honors

Even with the injury concerns, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was high on Campbell and wanted to draft him, so he moved up one spot to the Kansas City Chiefs after several failed attempts at a trade to select Campbell 31st overall. Campbell has not practiced yet, and his new head coach, Nick Sirianni, has not put a timetable on his return. Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio mentioned mid-August as a target timeframe.

Campbell is being viewed as someone who could play inside linebacker to start, but also play off the edge. His versatility is what attracted the Eagles to select him, as he can play multiple positions, which is the type of player Fangio wants on his defense.

The beginning of the season might not be as strong for Campbell, as he will need time to get back into shape, learn the speed of the NFL, and earn his time on the field. Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun are still expected to be the starting inside linebackers once the season begins.

Now with the contract situation out of the way, Campbell can focus on getting healthy the next two months and make his much awaited debut in a Eagles uniform.
