A former NFL player was reportedly arrested last week, but says that he and his family are doing well despite the allegations.
Former defensive end Greg Hardy took to social media to respond to reports that he had been arrested after a physical altercation with his girlfriend.
"Please stop spreading what these chaos machines post, they don't know any facts then fuel the fire that effects (sic) my kids and my wife," the former Dallas Cowboys player said.
"Things get emotional but has never and will never be what you clowns are trying to spread. I ask with all my heart please, My family and I are all perfectly fine. Please stop spreading lies and rumors and give our family the time and space to work through it all in private."
Richardson (TX) police said last week that Hardy became violent with his partner after she accused him of cheating. Police documents allege that Hardy's partner told officers the former defensive end pushed her and put his hands around her neck.
Police noted scratches and abrasions on the accuser's body that were "consistent with a physical altercation."
Hardy did admit to police that there was a dispute, but said that he simply moved his partner out of the way. The former player was then reportedly arrested for "assault causing bodily injury to a family member."
Hardy was arrested back in 2014 for domestic violence allegations. Hardy, playing for the Carolina Panthers at the time, was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend. The woman said Hardy slammed her on a sofa covered in "assault rifles and/or shotguns."
Prosecutors dropped the charges after Hardy's accuser did not appear in court, but the NFL suspended him for 10 games after violating the league's player conduct policy. The suspension was reduced after an appeal, but effectively ended his career with the Panthers.
After one season with the Cowboys. Hardy would begin his career in combat sports. He's competed in the UFC and at various boxing events, but has suffered several losses across his most recent fights. He last competed in an exhibition boxing match in late 2024, where he was knocked out in the third round.
