J.K. Dobbins is thrilled to be with the Broncos, has a message for Chargers

New Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins met with the media on Wednesday, just hours after officially inking his deal with the team.

Dobbins comes over from the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers, where he was productive in 13 games in 2024. Dobbins rushed for more than 900 yards and nine touchdowns. The yards set a new career-high, the touchdowns matched what he did in 2020 with the Baltimore Ravens.

That’s why it was a little surprising the Chargers slapped a tender on Dobbins, but also signed free agent Najee Harris and drafted Omarion Hampton in Round 1 of the NFL Draft. It was pretty clear Dobbins wasn’t in their plans moving forward, so instead he joins a Broncos running back room that is wide open.

First, J.K. Dobbins spoke about what he liked about the opportunity in Denver and said all the right things.

Complimenting the defense, quarterback Bo Nix, the other running backs, the offensive line, the coaches and the fanbase is checking all the boxes. It’s a great answer from Dobbins.

And then he got asked about the Chargers making the decision they did. He sent a warning shot, basically telling their front office he’ll see them on the field.

Also: “I want to get a ring. I’ve been in the playoffs every year I’ve played. I’m tired of losing in them.” pic.twitter.com/u011XDwbUr

J.K. Dobbins will get his first chance for revenge when the Broncos travel to Los Angeles on Sept. 21. The Chargers will come to Empower Field at Mile High to close the season in early January. Hopefully Dobbins can have a couple of big games against his old club.

The part at the end is also solid, with Dobbins noting he’s made the playoffs every year of his career with both Baltimore and Los Angeles, but has never won a Super Bowl.

That’s clearly his goal in Denver, and J.K. Dobbins will have to go through the Chargers and Chiefs to hopefully take the AFC West then see if the Broncos can make a postseason run.
