The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a tough season that saw them just miss the playoffs with a 7-10 record. They disappointed on both sides of the ball, finishing 21st in scoring and 31st in points allowed, leading to a head coaching change from Mike McCarthy to Brian Schottenheimer.

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report’s NFL analyst Moe Moton believes the Cowboys should sign former Green Bay Packers two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, who recently became a free agent.
“The Dallas Cowboys should be interested in Alexander if he agrees to a one-year prove-it deal. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told reporters “there’s a good chance” that cornerback Trevon Diggs may be sidelined at the beginning of the upcoming season.
If healthy, Alexander could start alongside DaRon Bland while Diggs recovers from knee surgery.
Rookie third-rounder Shavon Revel Jr. is working his way back from a torn ACL. Kaiir Elam, a first-rounder from the 2022 draft, has been a massive disappointment. Alexander is a high-level cornerback who could shore up the Cowboys secondary.”

After being forced to hit the open market following his refusal to accept a reduced rate from the $16 million cap charge Alexander was set to have in Green Bay, why wouldn’t a team like the Cowboys give him a call?
While Alexander has been limited to a total of just 14 games across the past two seasons, he’s shown an ability to play at a very high level, and the Cowboys can afford to take a few risks on their path back to contention. Who knows? He might just enjoy a long second career in Dallas, where his star will shine brighter than ever.
