Louisville targets among the highest-scoring players on day one at NBPA Top 100 Camp

ROCK HILL, S.C. - With University of Louisville basketball coach Pat Kelsey and two assistant coaches watching, a handful of the Cardinals' targets in the Class of 2026 had strong showings on the opening day of the NBA Players Association Top 100 camp.

Six of the top 10 scorers after the first day of the camp at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center are prospects hoping to visit - or have visited - U of L.

Kelsey, along with his son Johnny, along with assistant coaches Thomas Carr and Jermaine Ukaegbu, right front and center, watching the action.

Long Island Lutheran point guard Dylan Mingo, who said Louisville is among the most active schools in his recruitment, led the event with 29 points a game for the first two games. He was 12 of 16 from the field and had 29 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals in the first game before going for 29 points, five assists, and three rebounds in the second game. He was a total of 5 of 10 from three-point range in the two games.

Carr watched his entire first game while Kelsey was at midcourt for his second contest.

Blair, N.J., Academy guard Deron Rippey, who visited U of L last season, averaged 28 points a game. Carr watched his first game, while Kelsey caught the second game of the day when he went for 28 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

District Heights, Md., Bishop McNamara forward Qayden Samuels, who has said he plans on making a trip to Louisville this summer, is averaging 26 points a game and leads the event with 9.5 rebounds a game. Kelsey saw the first game when Samuels had 33 points on 13 of 21 from the field, and 10 rebounds. He was 5 of 9 from three-point range.

The fifth leading scorer in the event is Newport, Ky., native Tay Kinney, who made an official visit to U of L last weekend. Kinney played in front of Kelsey in the first game, and then Carr and Ukaegbu - along with Johnny Kelsey - watched him in the second game.

Kinney now plays for Overtime Elite and has jumped into the top 15 of the class. He had 30 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in the second game, hitting 5 of 9 three-pointers. In the opener, Kinney had 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

Richmond, Va., forward Latrell Allmond, a longtime offer for the Cardinals, is averaging 23 points a game and had six blocked shots in his first game, while another longtime target Ikenna Alozie is averaging 18 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. Kelsey saw both players in a game, while Carr was also courtside for one of their games.

Kelsey was able to see several other targets, including Cole Cloer, Cameron Williams, Anthony Felesi, Jalen Montonati, Bryson Howard, and Chris Washington.

The camp features former NBA players instructing high school players who aspire to reach that level.

College coaches will be allowed to watch the camp and evaluate players again tomorrow. The camp will end on Friday.
