The Puskas Academy president has said that new Liverpool signing Armin Pecsi has a ‘beautiful future ahead of him’, after he joined the club on a five-year deal.

The former Academy keeper was somewhat of a surprise announcement, as there had been few reports of interest from the Reds, but it seems he is part of a long-term plan for Arne Slot.

Liverpool are already having a busy summer, with players both coming and departing. One of the biggest departures has been Caoimhin Kelleher’s move to Brentford for an initial £12.5m, with performance-related add-ons possibly taking the fee to £18m.

The club have only been open to selling Kelleher since signing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia last summer, who is expected to challenge Alisson Becker for the number one spot.

It is unlikely that Pecsi will see any game time in the upcoming season and he will probably be third-choice keeper behind Alisson and Mamardashvili, but he has been labelled as an outstanding talent who will be part of future plans at the club.

“They see a long-term project that they outlined for me,” the 20-year-old said on the Hungarian national team’s YouTube channel.

“Of course it gives me great motivation that such a club, such data analysts decided on my name, that they want to build me. So, that’s definitely my goal, and I want to show them that they chose the right person for the job.”

The Hungarian has also been praised by the president of his former academy, Balaza Toth, who said it's a huge thing that they were able to sell a young native footballer to the English Champions, and for a record amount.

“We have seen year after year during our work that he is a very talented player, and he certainly has a beautiful future ahead of him. In recent times, huge clubs have been interested in him and have cast their nets on him” he told Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport.

“He has a lot of work to do next year and he has to be patient, as it will definitely take a year to prepare him for the Premier League as best as possible.”

There is a possibility that the young keeper will be sent out on loan, or he may stay at the club, learning from one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Alisson Becker.
