When are Liverpool fixtures released for Premier League title defense

Liverpool’s Premier League defense will come into sharper focus next week when the fixtures for the 2025-26 season are announced.

The latest campaign may have ended just 18 days ago, but attention has already turned to another top-flight season.

Fans will also be eager to start making travel plans, although the annual fixture release only confirms the rough dates for games. Further information will be provided once TV selections have been announced, while changes due to cup competitions and unforeseen circumstances are also inevitable at a later date.

For instance, Liverpool’s progression to the Carabao Cup final caused the rearrangement of the trip to Aston Villa this season, while the adverse weather conditions ahead of the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park also meant the date had to be changed.

And a trip to Everton will likely be the most anticipated fixture next season, with Liverpool keen to earn three points from its first match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Likewise, a first journey to the Stadium of Light in nearly a decade beckons, plus returns to Elland Road and Turf Moor, with Sunderland, Leeds United and Burnley back in the big time.

When will the 2025-26 Premier League fixtures be released?

Liverpool will discover its provisional fixture list on Wednesday, June 18 at 09:00 BST (4 a.m. ET).

The only fixture set in stone at that time will be the opening match of the season, with TV companies tending to select in advance which matches to broadcast from the first weekend of games.

When does the season start and end?

The 2025-25 campaign begins on the weekend of August 16, although Liverpool’s season will start the weekend before when it faces Crystal Palace at Wembley in the Community Shield.

All 20 teams will start the season that weekend, despite Chelsea and Manchester City requesting that their maiden games be postponed for a week due to the sides’ involvement in the Club World Cup.

Liverpool has begun the last four seasons with away trips to Norwich City (2021-22), Fulham (2022-23), Chelsea (2023-24) and Ipswich Town (2024-25).

The 2025/26 season concludes on Sunday 24 May, when all 10 matches will kick off at the same time.

Next season will be played over 33 weekends, with five rounds of midweek matches incorporated into the calendar.
